Clean Fuels Ohio spent all of summer preparing for the first, fully virtual Midwest Green Transportation Forum & Expo. The formal conference agenda wrapped up the afternoon of Friday, September 25th after hearing from panelists on the Advanced Auto Manufacturing and Jobs of the Future session. This year’s conference spanned 2 weeks and hosted over 115 speakers on more than 30 sessions. Over 600 attendees participated this year making for great information sharing and conversation.

The Forum was broken down into eight session tracks so there was something for everyone: Propane Autogas Fleets, Electric Vehicles, Natural Gas Vehicle Fleets, Fleet Management and Efficiency Best Practices, Big Picture Sessions, Smart Mobility, Policy, and Biodiesel & Renewable Diesel. Attendees from as far away as Bogota, Columbia participated this year and represented over 13 different industries. 64 percent of attendees were management level decision makers; 20% were senior management and another 20% were executive management.

The Expo had 42 sponsors and 36 exhibitors. Exhibitors participated in a virtual expo session during the mornings where they could discuss their products and services with audience members. Because the event was virtual, exhibitors from all the way out in San Diego, California were able to interact with attendees. By partnering with the event management app developer, Whova, Clean Fuels Ohio was able to offer a unique virtual experience to keep industry conversation and connections moving without risking attendees’ health.

According to post-conference surveys, attendees rated the 2020 Midwest Green Transportation Forum & Expo experience between “Very good” and “Excellent.” Many attendees enjoyed the range of topics and content the conference provided and the flexibility of the online format. Because of the success of this year’s conference, many attendees showed they were in favor of a hybrid conference next year.

The conference was free of charge this year and the app will be live for 6 months after the conference’s end. Registration is still open and will be until March. All sessions have been recorded and uploaded into the app and attendees, exhibitors, and speakers still have access to networking features.
