2022 to 2030 Strategy

The politicization of climate change and the entrenchment of conservatives in Ohio’s state government leadership have made it very difficult to make progress on most areas of climate policy. Due to the auto industry’s historical role as a cornerstone of Ohio’s economy and the now-inevitable global shift toward transportation electrification, we have an opportunity to build conservative buy-in and even conservative leadership in support of EVs by framing the issue as protecting and building on vital jobs for future generations. We have already seen some success in appealing to conservatives with this narrative. Accelerating Ohio’s Auto Industry is the vehicle to promulgate that narrative, paving the way for future pro-EV policy and preempting the introduction of anti-EV policy, as well as creating policy that will advance toward the 2030 EV charger and vehicle adoption goals.
