Who We Are

Clean Fuels Ohio (CFO) is a non-profit organization, formed in January 2002 under the original name of Central Ohio Clean fuels Coalition (COCFC).Our office is located at 3400 N. High St, Suite 430, in Columbus. Our mission is to increase the use of cleaner American fuels and vehicles and energy-saving transportation technologies (AFVTs) in order to improve air quality and health, reduce climate change, curb dependence on imported petroleum, and support Ohio’s economy. Clean American fuels include biodiesel, natural gas, propane, ethanol, electricity, and hydrogen. In 2002, the U.S. Department of Energy designated CFO as the Clean Cities coalition for Central Ohio. We are proud of this designation and it gives us unique access to DOE technical and financial resources to develop AFVT projects. The DOE also gave an award to the Coalition in 2002 for "one of the best (market development) program plans ever received."

Clean Fuels Ohio is based in Columbus and Ohio’s capital city serves as the hub of our activities. However, as a result of our steady growth since 2002, we increasingly have taken on a statewide leadership role in project development, education and policy. Clean Fuels Ohio's primary goal is to develop public-private projects that deploy vehicles, refueling equipment, and other technologies. These projects lead directly to improved air quality, reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, increased energy security and support for Ohio’s economy. As part of this goal, Clean Fuels Ohio educates government and private fleet decision-makers, operations and maintenance personnel, teachers, students, public officials, the media and the general public. Clean Fuels Ohio also supports government policies that are consistent with our mission.

We count on a growing membership base to support the organization and its activities. Current members of Clean Fuels Ohioinclude concerned and supportive individuals, automakers, auto dealers, trade associations, environmental, energy and health non-profit organizations, educational institutions, and local governments and businesses that support and use American fuels, vehicles and technologies. Members are kept informed with a quarterly newsletter and periodic email updates, may attend regular free meetings and receive discounts on other Coalition-sponsored events. Annual dues are set on a sliding scale.
